Candidates should be physically fit for sea service under standard norms, with eyesight up to (+ or -) 2.5 with no colour blindness.
Category 1, 2 and 3 - The candidate must have passed the 10th standard from a recognized board.
Category 3 - The diploma or degree must be recognized by any State or Central Government or the AICTE.
Category 3 - The maximum age limit for degree or diploma is raised with a condition that these candidates are provided shipboard training within one year of completion of course.
The maximum age limit mentioned above shall be applicable for General Category candidates.
The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to "Scheduled Caste" (SC) / "Scheduled Tribe" (ST) Category shall be relaxed by 5 years.
The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to Non-creamy layer of "Other Backward Classes' (OBC) Category shall be relaxed by 3 years.
The maximum age limit for women candidates of each Category shall be relaxed by additional 2 years.
The Candidate will join the ship as a Trainee Ordinary Seamen and will be promoted based on the sea-time & performance on-board ship.
Apart from the regular curriculum, the cadets are trained in our Ship in Campus to monitor normal operations of the main engine including all the auxiliary machinery and the capability to troubleshoot malfunctions and to perform repair and maintenance. Marine Engineering cadets are trained in using on-board workshops and tools to effect repairs of components and manufacture simple items. The training also includes the development of competency in verbal communication, safety culture in the maritime environment and important aspects of shipping. The cadets are inculcated with a sense of discipline, team spirit and the right attitude with a lot of physical and mental activities.
After the completion of the course, the cadets will be issued with the INDIAN CDC, INDOS No. and Course Completion Certificate. The Candidate will join the ship as a Trainee Ordinary Seamen and will be promoted based on the Sea-time & performance on-board ship.
